In 2011, SAFE worked with social care provider Alternative Futures,

local metal artists and dementia-patients to deliver a bespoke metal art project in Merseyside.
The work involved workshops with residents of a hospital for people living with dementia alongside support staff and their relatives and the themes for the sculptures were influenced by the residents themselves. Using a mobile cupola iron furnace to pour molten metal into moulds on‐site in the hospital grounds was a hugely engaging and socially inclusive working process.
