Julie did – read her story: After overcoming many challenges throughout her life, including being a single mum to 3 lovely boys, Julie has channelled all of her experiences, good and bad, into trying to support her family to thrive despite any disadvantage. Through the discovery that meditation and mindfulness had such a positive impact on her ability to cope with life, Julie became qualified as a life coach, specialising in mindfulness, gaining experience working with children, young people and adults. When Julie attended SAFE’s business support workshop in April 2016, she was supported through the programme which helped her transform her ideas for her new business into a feasible business proposition. The opportunity for studio space at St Mary’s arose and SAFE supported Julie to open her own office space there, presenting opportunities for collaboration with the creative consortium of practitioners. Attending the SAFE business start-up workshops empowered Julie with the confidence and knowledge to take the next steps into becoming a CIC. The team at SAFE nurtured Julie through the process, encouraging her ideas and offering guidance and advice to ensure she completed the programme. Julie says: “SAFE is a place I have fallen in love with…everyone is so supportive and positive...I’m looking forward to being able to share mindfulness techniques to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community.” - Julie Awang, New Beginnings CIC The Enterprise Hub is receiving funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
